1972-1976; member, Suffolk County, N.Y., legislature, 1976-1979; elected as a
Republican to the Ninety-sixth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January
3, 1979-January 3, 1987); was not a candidate for reelection in 1986; private
advocate; died on May 23, 2017, in Washington, D.C.
