Ninety-sixth and to the nine succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1979-January 3,
1999); chairman, Committee on Rules (One Hundred Fourth and One Hundred Fifth
Congresses); was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Sixth
Congress in 1998; died on October 26, 2001, in Glen Falls, N.Y.; interment in
Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y.
