States Peace Corps, 1970-1972; business executive; member of the Syracuse,
N.Y., common council, 1977-1985, president, 1985-1988; elected as a Republican
to the One Hundred First and to the nine succeeding Congresses (January 3,
1989-January 3, 2009); was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred
Eleventh Congress in 2008.
