Miami, Fla.; B.S., University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa., 1930; public
utility executive; burgess, borough of Oxford, Pa., 1956-1960; member of the
Pennsylvania state senate, 1961-1970; chairman, Pennsylvania Republican finance
committee; trustee, Lincoln University and University of Pennsylvania; elected
simultaneously as a Republican to the Ninety-first and to the Ninety-second
Congress, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of
United States Representative George Robert Watkins, and reelected to the
Ninety-third Congress (November 3, 1970-January 3, 1975); was not a candidate
for reelection to the Ninety-fourth Congress in 1974; died in West Lampeter
Township, Pa., July 29, 1997; interment in Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Chester
County, Pa.
