Polling Place and Potential Problems

The fact is that not everyone knows their polling stations, much less the closing and opening timesState to state the voting window varies.  The closing and opening poll-times are different even on the city, county, and state levels.

Specific states permit people standing in line at the poll closing time to remain and cast their vote. When researching the particulars of a polling station, take into account time zones as much as the state.

Not all elections take place. The lack of candidates does not require a poll station to open for voting.

Early & Absentee Voting

Most states offer early voting or by absentee ballot All voters should make sure their state offers the longer window of voting and what rules apply.  Some states do not provide early voting of any kind without an excuse.

Specific states allow mail-in votes. Postmark deadlines and end dates on turning the ballots in person are important if voting by mail in a state that offers the method.

Staying on top of the 2020 political races is more than knowing the candidates. It also means knowing how to cast a vote because every vote counts — understanding who, what, and where for any election is ensuring it is counting.
