Energy independence has always been one of the goals of our country, but we never really came close to achieving it in all these years much to the delight of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and rich liberals who do not care about the middle class. Under the Trump administration, however, things seem to be moving in the right direction and it looks like the United States could become energy independent in the very near future.
A report from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) says that the country could become a net exporter of energy by 2026. As of now, the United States is not overly dependent on other countries for its oil needs, as our exports have been growing and our imports have been declining quite sharply over the past few decades. Our march towards energy independence, however, slowed down considerably in the past ten years.
The Mismanagement of Obama Administration
Under Obama, the EPA wielded enormous influence and tried its best to obstruct oil and gas projects with ridiculous regulations. Obama himself was not so keen on increasing our domestic natural gas production, despite the fact that our country is blessed with abundant natural gas reserves and could easily meet our domestic demands without having to depend on imports.
Obama also stalled or outright squashed mega pipeline projects like the Keystone XL and the Dakota Access, all the while playing to the gallery of environmentalists, celebrities, and pretty much anyone who was looking for a photo op and their 15 minutes of fame and who did not give a hoot about the middle class of all creeds and colors.
Even the unfair ban on crude oil exports was only lifted in 2015, towards the end of his horrendous 8 year reign which destroyed so many black babies due to abortion. The legislation was pushed by Republicans and has benefited the exporters in the country enormously.
Energy Reforms under Trump
Trump made it clear during his campaign that he will do whatever it takes to make the US energy independent and has been doing just that ever since he assumed Office.
On the whole, Trump is taking all the right steps to reduce our dependence on imports and support the domestic producers, which has put us well on track towards energy independence.
